Surveillance Video - Homeless Man Arrested in Series of Random Attacks in the Bronx

BRONX - The NYPD arrested a suspect in two vicious random attacks in the Bronx in which the attacker tried to gouge a man’s eyes out and slashed a woman across the forehead.
The NYPD announced the arrest of a homeless man for violently attacking a man and woman on the same Bronx street moments apart.
Police arrested 29-year-old Xavier Rodriguez who is homeless. He was charged with assault. Cops said the same man attacked two people on the same block within a few minute violent spree.
At around 8 pm on November 10, a 49-year-old man was standing in front of 2265 University Avenue when he was struck from behind in an unprovoked attack. The victim was knocked to the ground. Cops said the attacker mounted the victim lying on the sidewalk and hit him with an unknown object.

Then the attacker pressed his thumbs into the victim’s eyes trying to gouge his eyes out, cops said. The attacker fled and moved onto another victim.
Moments later the same man attacked a woman in front of 2234 University Avenue. Cops said the man walked up to a 52-year-old woman and slashed her across the forehead with an unknown object.
The suspect then ran off toward Fordham Road.
Both victims were taken to Saint Barnabas Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Investigation which included surveillance video led cops to arrest Rodriguez.
